Through this residency project, we invite 5 architects and cultural professionals to engage in site-specific interventions aimed at supporting and triggering new uses and narratives for \u201cThe Domes\u201d,<\/strong> a public space in San Potito Sannitico, Italy. The Domes are an iconic architectural experimentation built in the early 2000s as part of a cooperative architectural project led by Fabrizio Car\u00f2la (1931-2019). Today, they are managed by FateLAB and host a multidisciplinary artistic workshop.<\/p>

Building on the groundwork laid by FateLab since 2004 in collaboration with the community of San Potito, these residencies aim to inhabit The Domes through a hybridization experiment that blends everyday life (people, experiences, knowledge, imaginaries, objects, stories) with innovative spatial practices. We invite participants to collectively explore innovative and diverse methods of spatial engagement and interaction with this space, contributing to envision a new multi-scalar cultural hub: C:L.A.C.<\/strong>(Italian initials for \u201cDomes: Laboratory of Contemporary Arts\u201d).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSan Potito is located in an Italian Inner Area, and its specificities and needs form the foundation for Hybridizing Cultural Spaces residencies. Serving as a testing ground for conscious designing practices within the European Territory, this process is intended as an act of care toward the local community by creating experimental prototypes designed for the spaces of The Domes, conceived to remain and enable future uses<\/strong>of the space. For these reasons, the residencies will generate prototypes addressing one or more of the following thematic axes:\n
    \n \t
  1. Encounter:<\/strong> Starting from a space that presents itself as a hub for gathering and interaction, our approach involves developing mechanisms that can promote, enable, and encourage processes of encounter and re-appropriation.<\/li>\n \t
  2. Playground:<\/strong> Drawing inspiration from the proximity of the San Potito school complex, we aim to design devices that resonate with and involve the community of both young and older individuals who frequent the area, inviting them to play and engage with the space.<\/li>\n \t
  3. Noise:<\/strong> The Domes have a unique acoustic environment characterised by strong reverberation. Our focus involves proposing a device that either harnesses or challenges this condition, facilitating its use.<\/li>\n \t
  4. Humidity:<\/strong> The Domes are marked by an environment prone to condensation issues. This axis involves suggesting devices that either utilise or challenge this condition, thereby facilitating the space\u2019s use.<\/li>\n \t
  5. Narrative:<\/strong> We aim to craft devices capable of narrating the events occurring within The Domes, extending beyond its walls to engage the town and the local community.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Our initiative embraces sustainability practices, using locally sourced materials and repurposing discarded waste, with the active participation of local organisations and communities. Central to our approach is the creative use of materials and resources,<\/strong> promoting the ethos of \u201cmaking with what we have\u201d. Therefore, within a broader discourse of circular economy and sustainability, a key element of this experience is questioning our relationship with materials and production processes.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
