C:L.A.C. – A Creative Hub for Contemporary Arts

C:L.A.C. (The Domes: Laboratory of Contemporary Arts) is a collaborative work and exhibition space dedicated to artistic experimentation, with a special focus on printmaking, set up in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples. Housed within a building envisioned by Fabrizio Caròla, the space embodies the principles of cooperation, sustainability, and creative cross-pollination.

printing lab

C:L.A.C. offers extensive indoor and outdoor spaces, adaptable to the needs of artists, designers, and researchers. One of the main domes is dedicated to a fully equipped printing laboratory, featuring specialized tools for serigraphy and intaglio printing.

a dynamic and versatile environment for artistic exploration

“The Domes” is a 323 m² multi-purpose space divided into two interconnected modules, consisting of five and three smaller domes. These spaces are linked by a 128 m² glass portico, surrounding a large open courtyard. This cluster-like arrangement allows flexibility in lighting, atmosphere, and spatial organisation, making it an ideal setting for independent projects, artistic residencies, exhibitions, and co-working.

beyond the arts: a hub for research and co-creation

Located within a larger cultural and educational complex, C:L.A.C. extends beyond artistic creation to become a hub for research, learning, and innovation. The complex includes:
  • An 388 m² auditorium, with 218 seats, an 87 m² stage, a 186 m² main hall, a dressing room, and accessible restrooms—ideal for events, talks, and performances.
  • LATEM - An archaeological laboratory focused on the history of the Volturno and Matese Valley, with a public library with over 15,000 volumes on medieval history, art, architecture, and archaeology.
  • An unfinished dome, an ongoing project space for architectural research and experimental design.

a place for collaboration and innovation

Rooted in Caròla’s vision of cooperative architecture, C:L.A.C. fosters a culture of exchange and creativity.

Whether as a workspace for artists, a residency for researchers, or a venue for exhibitions, the facility serves as an incubator for contemporary artistic languages in the region’s hinterland.
