"Matrice Natura" is an introductory workshop on art graphics organized by the association for students of Luigi Settembrini Middle School.
The aim is to provide young people with the necessary tools to gain greater self-awareness, understand their emotions, and the surrounding world through an innovative and experimental approach to graphic and art printing techniques. Students will create artworks using recycled materials such as fabrics, papers, leaves, and flowers, using the collagraph technique.
Collagraph is a technique developed and experimented by the American artist Glen Alps during the 1960s, refining a process similar to collage involving various printing techniques. By using different materials applied to a rigid support, countless graphic effects can be achieved. The matrices, inked according to traditional intaglio inking with fatty ink, are wiped with tarlatan, but this technique also allows for roller inking to highlight the relief traces of the created matrix.
