Fate Festival 2018: “Alt(r)e Prospettive"

The XIV edition of Fate Festival embraced the theme “Alt(r)e Prospettive” (Higher/Other Perspectives). The event aimed at fostering a creative outlook on the territory, encouraging new ways of observing and experiencing it. The objective was to put the spotlight on the unique morphological features of the Matese region, offering ample opportunities to soar, both literally and metaphorically.

Throughout the edition, a multitude of events unfolded, featuring airsports, international visual and performance artists, as well as photographers and art students. Workshops, projects, and activities dedicated to valorizing the territory were organized, offering diverse avenues for creation and participation.

The skies of San Potito Sannitico and its public spaces became the canvases for a variety of artistic expressions: Rooftops turned into vibrant art pieces, showcasing contributions from artists worldwide, including Carola & Acra from Argentina and their vivid colors, Tono Cruz from the Canary Islands and Matu from Chile, as well as Hosh from the Balearic Islands, who engaged in a participatory project with primary school children.

Streets and rural spaces of the town became locations for site-specific artworks. Standing out were the interventions of Suso 33 from Spain and his androgynous creatures, Rub Kandy from Rome with its changing star, the Spanish SpY who executed a Land Art intervention, and Marta Torrecilla, who created an installation using recycled bottles.

Furthermore, the local inhabitants became protagonists of the interactive and social projects by the students from the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, while “Lo Spazio Fotocopia”, a photographic exhibition curated by Magazzini Fotografici from Naples, offered a visual feast throughout the event.

The festival’s conclusion, held at the Multifunctional Center, featured aerial dance, audiovisual presentations, and a celebration of local products signed Slow Food Matese. In the aerial dance show, “Air D'amour”, curated by Dimensione Verticale and Dinamika, in collaboration with the Flowing Arts, dancers and choreographers Giacomo Colletti and Federica Natangelo, and dancer and aerial performer Marta Giampaolino took center stage. Works created during the festival were projected, including videos from the Search project of the acrobatic paragliding pilots, videos by students of the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, and the screening of the documentary of the entire festival created by directors Domingo de Luis and Antonino de Lellis.

Once again, art played its crucial role, not only enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the territory but also fostering interaction and cultivating new awareness. Each work was conceived to harmonize with the surroundings, inviting viewers to appreciate familiar landscapes from fresh perspectives. Art transforms, but does not invade.

“Other Perspectives” for San Potito Sannitico represents a hope, a commitment, and a bet, marking the beginning of another narrative focused on innovative developmental perspectives - the beginning of a new story.
